Freeport Community Foundation

The etymology of the philanthropy as a concept evolved further early in the last century to include a new phrase, “community foundation.” Simply defined, community foundations are societal tools designed to pool resources, typically financial, and disburse through coordinated grantmaking and scholarship and dedicated to social improvement.

The Freeport Community Foundation, dedicated to serving Stephenson, Jo Daviess and Carroll counties, joined this brotherhood in 1975. In 2020, however, the Foundation’s etymology of philanthropy evolved to include three additional words: ACTION. IMPACT. LEGACY.

These three stories exemplify how the Freeport Community Foundation’s love of humankind furthers our vision of an improved quality of life for everyone.
