The Freeport Community Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization guided by community leaders dedicated to providing financial solutions for current and future community needs through cooperative philanthropy.

The purpose of the Foundation is to provide for the well-being of the
citizens of Freeport and Northwest Illinois by accumulating assets in the form of permanent funds and prudently distributing income from
those funds to charitable organizations.

Youth Advisory Council

The Freeport Community Foundation is proud to support the Youth Advisory Council. YAC was formed in 2009 and supported through generous donations from State Bank, Freeport Community Foundation, Jack Myers, Freeport Culver’s  and Sunrise Rotary. YAC is a group of area youth who are dedicated to leadership and philanthropy. Foundation staff and Board members mentor the group and guide the group through the grant making process.

Youth Advisory Council Awards 2017 Grants

YAC awarded 4 grants in April to the following youth-serving projects: Children’s Hands On Museum (two grants): Imagination Lab and Inside Out Games. Northern Illinois Food Bank: Backpack Program. Senior Resource Center: Hands 2 Hands Intergenerational Program. YAC presents a CARE Award each year to an area teacher epitomizing the spirit of philanthropy. This year’s award recipient is: Barbara Flynn, Aquin Catholic Schools. Ms. Flynn chose the Aquin Servant Leadership program as the recipient of the award in her honor.

Next YAC Grant Application Due Date: February 28, 2018, by 4:00 p.m. to the Foundation office.
